The GCSE Mathematics qualification comprises of three written examination papers of equal weighting, which can be taken at either Foundation or Higher tier. Each paper is 1 hour and 30 minutes and consists of 80 marks. The exam board we use across Dixons Academies Trust is Edexcel.

The content specified for each tier will be assessed in all three papers.

The qualification will be graded and certified on a nine-grade scale, ranging from 9 (highest) to 1 (lowest), based on the total marks obtained in all three papers. The individual papers will not be graded. The Foundation tier corresponds to grades 1 to 5, while the Higher tier corresponds to grades 4 to 9 (with grade 3 allowed).
